As a mom of 5, I spent a large part of my life cleaning and cooking. Now I live in a 133′ foot Bell tent (currently camping in the mountains in East Tennessee), with my partner who enjoys cooking – (how perfect is that!) If I never cook again, that’d be fine with me. (Last month I did bake an apple pie outside in our Dutch oven but burned it =\ For cleaning, occasionally I sweep the tent floor (a 5′ x 7′ Persian rug) and wipe off our desk/ kitchen table/ hang-out spot. We have no electricity, but for $7.00/day, Roan Mountain State Park has flush toilets and hot showers. And on Fridays, they pick up the trash. A once/month trip to the laundromat is all we need. Life is good.
Born and raised a Vermonter, then served in the military 3 years - USAF member stationed at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Married 35 years, raised 5 children, now a widow. Starting a new life with my partner, Bruce, [also a widow(er)] with both of us giving up our permanent homes first to live in our 133 square foot CanvasCamp Sibley Bell tent for 6 months and now to live on a boat - 32' trawler. Chapter 2 of my life starts at age 56. Life has never been better. View all posts by Laurie Griffin
