One thing I like about living in a tent is the opportunity to travel and see different things.  I had never been to a National Military Park before, so we went to the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park (the Lookout Mountain Battlefield,) in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

FYI, there are 9 National Military Parks, 4 National Battlefield Parks, and 1 National Battlefield site in the U.S. ( I love looking up facts and learning new things, which is one of the reasons I like to blog.)

It’s on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.  Point Park is a 10 acre memorial park.  It preserves the sight of 2 major battles of the American Civil War: the Battle of Chickmauga and the Chattanooga Campaign.

This park is the first and largest military park,  authorized in 1890.

The battle here was fought November 24, 1863.

The view of Chattanooga was great.
