A recent trip from Tennessee to North Carolina resulted in some musical observations:

  • As we drove past the Great Smoky Mountains, the previous cold night resulted in some white stuff.  “On top of old Smoky all covered with snow…”
  • AND it was a sunny day with “Blue skies smilin’ at on me, nothin’ but blue skies do I see…’
  • AND on I-26 two lanes will become three lanes, in 2018, therefore, 22 miles of trees were knocked down. “They paved paradise and put up a parking lot…”
  • AND A hard drive for truckers.  The speed limit was 55; for truckers it was only 35 due to a very steep grade going down near Nashville.  A sign said “Truckers may use shoulders to cool brakes.” There were many runaway truck ramps.. “Just keep truckin’on..”
  •   AND Went past the Eastern Continental Divide on I 40 E near Black Mountain, elavation 27,861… “Now the day that John Wayne died, I found myself on the continental divide…”
  • AND, last but not least,  we met a couple (Gerry & Pat) in Hickory, Tennessee. They divorced in their 20’s and later both remarried other people.   Years later, Pat was a widow and Gerry had divorced.  They met up again, and have been together 3 years.  Forty years later they’re “Reunited and it feels so good…”
